Even the American Academy of Pediatrics has jumped on the play bandwagon. In their 2018, clinical report entitled “The Power of Play,” they detail how “research demonstrates that developmentally appropriate play with parents and peers is a singular opportunity to promote the social-emotional, cognitive, language, and self-regulation skills that build executive function and a prosocial brain. Furthermore, play supports the formation of the safe, stable, and nurturing relationships with all caregivers that children need to thrive.”

The educational programs at Westside Early Childhood Centers were created with your child in mind with the support of NAEYC guidelines and DHHS licensing regulations.  Additionally, our programs are all Step Up to Quality rated 3 or higher!

THE CREATIVE CURRICULUM

SECOND STEP EARLY LEARNING CURRICULUM

PYRAMID MODEL PROGRAM WIDE IMPLEMENTATION

The program-wide implementation model ensures that programs are attending to both the implementation of evidence-based practices and the development of the infrastructure to support the durable implementation of those practices. Programs that have used this approach have experienced the following:

â–ºReductions in child challenging behavior

â–ºIncreases in children’s social skills

â–ºIncreased satisfaction of program staff and families

â–ºElimination of suspension and expulsion

â–ºIncreases in teachers competence and confidence in the support of children

â–ºChanges in classroom and program climate

â–ºSustained implementation of the Pyramid Model

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

WECC Parent

As much as playing with their friends, my kids love playing with their teachers. They regularly come home and tell us stories of how great their teachers are - whether it is playing with them, encouraging them to try new things, or treating them with respect.

This teacher celebrates each child's individuality and celebrates their successes. They understand that each child learns in a different and unique way and does everything possible to support this in her classroom. Not only is she great with her students, she is a great mentor for the teachers and also a great resource for families!

I would like to say that my family and myself are very happy with the care our children receive. I feel very safe and confident that my children are in good and dependable hands. THANK YOU!
